Champagne
Champagne is a sparkling wine made in the Champagne region of France. Due to a colder climate and other environmental factors, the region’s winemakers were forced to develop a wine-making technique that was all their own. The ‘methode champenoise’ takes the acidic wine that is produced from the initial fermentation of the grapes and ferments that wine a second time in the bottle. This second fermentation results in a luxurious, nuanced and delicate wine that is what many consider to be the greatest example of wine making in the world.Vintage Champagne

Chardonnay
Chardonnay is likely the most prominent grape in the world; it is planted in more appellations than any other varietal and makes a great variety of wines in these appellations. Chardonnay is found in the sparkling wines of Champagne, the unoaked examples of Chablis and in the big and round Chardonnays of California, to name a few. However, one needn’t look any further than Burgundy to understand the greatness of this grape.Chardonnay | France

Pinot Noir
Pinot Noir is notoriously difficult to make; the climate it thrives in often experiences rain, hail and other weather that stunts its expression. In the Burgundy region of France, as well as along the coasts of California and Oregon, optimal cooler temperatures lead to some of this grape’s greatest expressions.Pinot Noir | France

Nebbiolo
Nebbiolo is Italy’s most distinguished wine grape. Where a Napa Cabernet is big and round, wines from the Nebbiolo grape tend to be big and angular. On the nose, the layers of complexity are reminiscent of some of the greatest Pinot wines of Burgundy, while on the palate, Nebbiolo wines have tremendous power and structure that is of a completely different character. Tar, rose, licorice and mushrooms run in tandem with a strong acidity and firm tannins.Nebbiolo | Italy

The Cabernets produced in Bordeaux and Napa are probably the most renowned red wines in the world. Amarone
Amarone is one of Italy’s most prestigious red wines with a production method that is all its own. These wines are made from the Corvina, Rondinella, Molinara and Negrara grape varieties. Grown just north of the city of Verona in the Valpolicella Classico Zone, the grapes are harvested in the fall and hung on wooden racks where they sit throughout the winter in a technique referred to as “appassimento” prior to the beginnings of the winemaking process. Amarone’s have a nose of bitter chocolate, raisins, exotic spices and tobacco.Amarone Della Valpolicella Classico
